The beginning of the end of the beginning

Senior Salutation:
I remember how hard this was to do for my son. I went to the office with my draft to submit. I then saw the drafted forms from other parents. I had written something nice, but not heart felt and personal. I stood there in the office and rewrote the note to my son. I had tears in my eyes when I finished. I knew then that my message was special.
Take the time to find the right picture and message for your senior.

Job Well Done

To the Awesome Registration Volunteers,
It is my hope to give thanks to the PTSA volunteers by giving away a little more than a thank you. I will be draw a name from the PTSA registration volunteers for two tickets to the Kentucky Show. Please go to
www.kentuckyshow.com to decide if this is a program you might enjoy seeing. Respond to me so I can add your name to the hat. I would like to hear from everyone so I know that no one has been left out.
Thank you for adding one more thing to your already crowded plates. I truly appreciate your help.
Yours truly,
Christine Taylor

Great energy

Ladies,
Thank you for all your help in preparing for registration. I can feel the energy building for an awesome year. Thanks for your input on the good, the bad, and the ugly (interesting). With this exercise we have already made an attempt to reach out to new members. I am so glad to have your support in reaching the working parent by changing our PTSA to the evening of September 8th. I hope to encourage all members to get involved by blogging and attending the member's meetings.
Keep Blogging.

PTSA president
There are a few more spots to fill for registration Aug. 5 - Aug 6. Jump right in the water's fine.

Directories,D & A Awareness

Welcome to (or back to) SOHS for the 2008/2009 year! If you'd like your students to get in touch with other students or think that, at some point, you'd like to contact other parents, please remember to fill out and return the directory sheets by the end of August! They will be distributed in your student's classroom by the end of September. I keep one at home and at work and my student has is own.

The D&A Awareness programs (Drug and Alcohol) occur during Red Ribbon Week in October and the Thursdays prior to the Junior and Senior proms. Just two of the program's goals are to show students the results of D&A usage and to provide answers to all questions including take-away materials. If even one student is directed away from drug and/or alcohol abuse to a safer path, then we've done our job! It may have been tough in our day, but it's so much tyougher for our kids now! We can't let them slip through the crack!

Good Luck to all incoming Freshman!!! Looking forward to a great year at SOHS!!!

Mass transit offered for SOHS students!

It's almost here, it nearly time! Are you looking forward to the traffic jams and near misses in the Dragon parking lot? I didn't think so.
Please encourage your student to use Oldham County school buses. (Read, Oldham County DOES participate in Mass Transit.)
With fuel prices continual rise and with the increased congested roadways, we can have a very positive effect on our environment and public safety by encouraging our sons and daughters to use the school bus that is provided to each student enrolled in Oldham Co. Schools.

Kroger Cards

As always we are offering Kroger Cards as our only PTSA fundraiser.
You may purchase your card at registration, open house, or anytime in the school office.
This is a great way to support our school at no additional cost to you.
Thank you and welcome back to SOHS!

Let's getting started

Hello PTSA Members,
I am pleased to bring a new form of communication to our membership this year. It is my personal mission to create more open doors with which we can communicate. The workshop meeting this week will concentrate own mission statement for the year. Please blog your feelings on good things that PTSA is doing, bad things, and suggestion for new thoughts. Dive right in.
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year.
Yours truly,
